May 26th, 2008 Wellington, TX Tornado

We got a late start on the day from Lubbock, but got under some developing storms near Caprock Canyons State park. As the storm developed what looked like a pretty good hail core east of Clarendon, we found a way around the north side of the storm and got in front of it at Quail. The storm then developed into a big HP that exhibited pretty good off an on rotation for the next hour. The storm put down its first confirmed tornado on the north side of Wellington just after I got through town. The was no funnel, just a debris cloud. The best tornado on the day was as the storm was 10 miles east of town as a nice wall cloud formed. A tightly rotation debris cloud developed underneath and lasted atleast a minute as it moved through the valley to my west. The storm continued to impress from another half hour till it began to die. After the first storm began to die, I saw an even larger wall cloud to the west on an even stronger storm. I found some solid 1 inch hail on the ground as I drove west to meet up with the next storm. The second storm may have produced a small tornado as well, but I dont know of any confirmed tornadoes other than the 2 I saw on the first storm. The wall cloud on the second storm was very amazing. The last picture at the bottom is of the second storm's wall cloud.

Here are pictures from around the Wellington, TX Area on May 26th.
